Home Page
Look! Up in the header! It’s not a bird, nor a plane; it’s a persistent picture book writer and his family. As you can tell, my son knows good writing when he hears it. Man, I’ve warned him many times about letting his thoughts loose in bubbles like the one above. One day, someone might get the wrong idea. And there we are at one of our favorite spots, the Irving Public Library. Of course, I couldn’t leave my bride out. There she is reading our son The Little Red Caboose. When he was younger, we read that book to him before nap time and again at bed time. We did that for two years. He loved it.
About This Site
As the title of my site suggests, I am persistent. I love to write and couldn’t stop if I wanted to. I’m incurable. I might even be contagious. On these pages, you’ll find my writing journal, many links to author websites, blurbs on some of my books making the rounds, links to helpful articles, and interview links and those I’ve done with editors and authors (two original author interviews so far). You may also visit me at http://brianhumek.livejournal.com/.
Favorite quotes
“I may walk slowly, but I do not walk backwards.” - Abraham Lincoln
“We are often troubled, but not crushed; sometimes in doubt, but never in despair” - St. Paul
These two quotes may very well describe a lot about the writing life. They definitely describe mine.

Updates on my writing
January saw me hit a lot of firsts. I began work on my book proposal for Purple Ducks, a book on my ministry experiences and church planting. I also began work on my first YA book. I may be stuck with 1000 words for quite a while, but I really enjoy the freedom this genre presents. I also submitted my first stories to Highlights and Ladybug Magazines. Subbed a new round of manuscripts in early May after a slew of rejects during the first quarter of this year, including some personals.
Don’t forget to add me as a friend on livejournal, I’ll do the same for you too!
